DEV-3630 Advanced Internship
DEV-3630-050 (Administration and Directorship Apprenticeship)
The instructor will be leading the group to complete their 20 practicum days (160 hours) in centres around Winnipeg. In this traditional practicum model, students train with an early childhood director. You will need to be available for 20 weekdays (160 hours) to be placed in a centre shadowing a director. These twenty days can be flexible and arranged on an individual basis with the instructor and the centre. The instructor will be in touch with you about where you will be placed. Please do not contact any locations for a placement or start any practicum work without advisement.
DEV-3630-051 (Researching Best Practices in Early Childhood)
The instructor will provide mentorship opportunities to learn about best practices in the field of early childhood education. This group will work together to visit locations and communities inside and outside of early childhood to learn about the ways our province is supporting best early learning practices. Participation in group could include travel to locations in northern and rural Manitoba. The instructor will also supervise students to complete approved self-directed projects. (160 hours)
DEV-3630-052 (Curriculum Learnings)
The instructor will lead this group into an exploration of early childhood topics and deep coverage of an underrepresented area in early childhood. This group will be observing and critically examining current early childhood experiences through discussion of routines, pedagogy, equipment, and practices supporting the care and well-being of children. This group will need to arrange 160 daytime hours to meet at the UWSA Daycare, as this location will be the home base of the practicum.
